Beware the Ides of Scholls

 From 'Augustus: First emperor of Rome' (p.37):

" Caesar's father, aided by his sister's marriage to the popular hero Caius Marius, easily reached the praetorship and his sudden death--he collapsed and died putting on his shoes one morning--prevented him from going further."
There's a lesson in this somewhere.
